K Visa – For Immediate Relatives

The LIFE Act of 2000 allows this status to authorize the non-citizen spouses, fiancés, and children of U.S. citizens to live in the U.S. while waiting for a petition for permanent residence to be approved. There are 4 types:

K-1 allowing the fiancé of a U.S. citizen to enter for marriage
K-3 allowing the spouse of a U.S. citizen to enter
K-2 for minor children of the fiancé
K-4 for minor children of the spouse
